Fees for students from outside EU/EEA

Sweden has application fees and tuition fees for bachelor and master students from outside the EU/EEA area (list of EU/EEA countries). There are some exceptions to this general rule. EU/EEA citizens exempt from fees, but must document their status.

You can find more information at universityadmissions.se, the national website for applying to higher education in Sweden.

Please note that higher education in Sweden is still free of charge for citizens within EU and the EEA. (Documentation of status is needed.)

The tuition fee for bachelor- and master's programmes within the IT Faculty at the University of Gothenburg has for new students arriving 2018 been set to 139000 SEK per year and student.

Sweden has introduced a governmental scholarship for students required to pay a tuition fee (see link below). The scholarship is allocated by the International Programme Office for Education and Training and is administered by the University of Gothenburg.

There are also scholarships for international students administered by the Swedish Institute for example. The exact number of scholarships varies from year to year. You will find more information about which programmes are eligible for Swedish Institute scholarships by following the link below.
